Let Us Choose For You
-
Sponsors make a commitment to donate a certain amount of money (monthly, quarterly, or annually) to help with the cost of education, room and board, clothing, and medical care for a residential child on Liberia Mission. The child you are sponsoring will write to you twice a year, and you may correspond with your sponsored child. (Please see “How do I write to my sponsored child?”)
-
There are four sponsorship levels that can can be paid monthly, quarterly, or annually.
TAU: Provides School Tuition - $45/month
ST. ANTHONY: Provides School Tuition, Meals, and Hygiene Products - $135/month
ST. CLARE: Everything in St. Anthony Level, Plus Clothing and Medicine - $225/month
ST. FRANCIS: Provides Everything a Child Needs for the Year - $500/monthly
-
Your sponsorship money is used to pay for the education, room and board, hygiene products, clothing, medical care, and job-skills training for residential children on Liberia Mission. Sponsorship is currently $45 a month minimum. Because it costs much more per month to provide quality care and education, we do assign more than one sponsor per child. If you prefer to be your child’s only sponsor, please contact us for more details.
-
No, the money you send does not go directly to that child. We cannot, in good conscience, allow a child who has more sponsors to eat better, to be housed better, or to receive a better education than a child who has less sponsors. Therefore, sponsorship monies go into a general fund that supports all residential children.
The child that you are assigned is your personal link to Franciscan Works + Liberia Mission, and you become that child’s link to the greater world. The child will feel gratified that you have chosen to take a particular interest in his or her wellbeing.

You can send messages and pictures by visiting this link. We recommend sending a picture of yourself and your family in the first letter so your sponsored child can see who is writing to them.
Letters can also be sent to our Chicago office. Our office makes several trips a year to Liberia Mission and will deliver your letter directly to your sponsored child. Please send your letters to the office with your name and your sponsored child’s name
You will hear from your sponsored child twice a year and receive an updated photo. You will see their personalities come out in their notes and see how much they have changed through the pictures. These will give you a closer connection to your sponsored child as you begin to recognize their interests, aspirations, and challenges.
