Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs)

Starting at age 70½, you can make a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) directly from your Individual Retirement Account (IRA) to Franciscan Works. QCDs, otherwise known as IRA charitable rollovers or IRA gifts, are a straightforward, tax-efficient way to support Franciscan Works. QCDs may be excluded from your taxable income and qualify towards your required minimum distribution (RMD).

How a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) works

To qualify for a QCD, you must be at least 70½ years old. Through your QCD, you can donate up to $111,000 each year to charitable organizations such as Franciscan Works. The deadline to make a QCD is December 31 of the tax year for which you want it to count. Contact your IRA plan administrator to make a gift from your IRA to Franciscan Works.

The Impact of QCDs

When Raham was six years old, his mother left him on the doorstep of the Liberian Government’s Ministry for Children because she could not feed him. Raham did not go to school or play outside the walls of the concrete compound for two years.

When Raham arrived at Liberia Mission, he was in need of stability, care, and the opportunity to build a brighter future. Since coming to Liberia Mission, Raham has flourished and is excelling in school. Through the support of donors like you, he became part of a home where faith, education, and family have helped him thrive.

Over the years, Raham has grown academically, personally, and spiritually. Last year, he reached an especially meaningful milestone when he was baptized, taking an important step in his faith journey. Today, he continues to learn, grow, and prepare for the future with hope and purpose.

His journey, and many like it, continues because of faithful supporters whose generosity changes lives year after year.
