URGENT: Help Repair Piggery Damage

Last night (April 2nd), St. Isidore Piggery on Liberia Mission was severely damaged by strong wind gusts that detached large sections of the roof from the main structure, leaving the Mission's pigs exposed to both intense sunlight and relentless rainfall.

In Liberia, as the dry season transitions to the rainy season, strong gusts of wind accompany the first rains of the year. Eventually, the wind ceases, and the majority of the rainy season consists solely of strong downpours. However, as experienced at the mission last night, these initial wind gusts can be very damaging.

Large portions of the roof were destroyed in a single night, and repairs, as well as reinforcement measures, must be made to the piggery as soon as possible before another windy night – which, unfortunately is possible at any time over the next few weeks.

We are urgently appealing for ANYTHING you can give to help the students and staff make these necessary repairs so that St. Isidore Piggery may maintain the humane standard of care it is so well known for. Liberia Mission’s farm and microbusiness are integral parts of the life-skills training it aims to provide its beneficiaries. Thank you!
